New images from Canada

New images from my trip to Alberta in September

<fullText>In September I was in the Canadian Rockies on a trip organised by esteemed tour company, Light&Land, along with a friendly group of
photographers led by David Ward and Tony Spencer. It was a great trip and I returned with a good haul of new images, the best of which
were recently uploaded to my 'New Work' gallery.

New pictures from my autumn photography campaign

<fullText>This autumn I made three trips: Eastern Switzerland, the Gorges du Doubs and a workshop in Brtain's Lake District led by Joe Cornish
and David Ward. Selected images from these trips are now in my 'New Work' gallery.

'NaturFoto' Reader's images winner!

Winner of the monthly 'NaturFoto' reader's images competition!

<fullText>I was very surprised to discover that this image
has won the monthly readers' images competition for June in the German photography magazine, 'NaturFoto'. I have submitted images to the competition
on previous occasions and have had the pleasure of seeing three images published but this is the first time an image of mine has won the top prize.
What makes it all the more satisfying is that it's also a victory for film over digital. All the other published images, bar one, were digitally
 captured.

New images and a new 'blog'

Announcing my new Web Journal...

<fullText>I have already made two photo-trips this year and the results of the first have now been integrated into my galleries. Pictures
from the latest trip have already started to appear in the New Work gallery. More will be added soon...

Now, on to my 'blog' (or 'Web Journal' as I prefer to call it). This will be an outlet for my varied ramblings on the topic of landscape
photography. Trip reports, musings about film-based photography, philosophical witterings, discussions about aesthetics, the odd review
and even some articles about working with digital cameras will (probably) be covered. It will inevitably be biased towards my own preferences but I'm
hoping there should eventually be enough variety to be of interest to most photographers.

You can access it simply by clicking on the new 'Web Journal' link in the main navigation menu.

Happy New Year!!

Another year has rolled by...

<fullText>Another year has rolled by and it's time to reflect on my images from the last year and to pick my favourites. After a lot of thought, I
picked just twelve and these can be seen in the 'Pick of the Year (2010)' gallery.

Finally, I'd like to wish all my visitors all the very best for 2011.

Visit to Cornwall

In November I visited Cornwall to attend a workshop organised by Light & Land

<fullText>The Light & Land Advanced Large Format workshop was a fantastic opportunity to catch up with friends and receive inspiration and instruction
from two of the best in the business - Joe Cornish and David Ward. This year, we were also treated to a talk by Andrew Nadolski, whose book
'The End of the Land' contains images made at Porth Nanven beach (just a short drive from our base in Marazion).
He gave us a great insight into the making of the book as well as providing plenty of inspiration for our visits to this
 magical spot.

Images from this trip may currently be seen in the 'New Work' gallery.

At last some new images...!

After a long pause I have added some new images to the site

<fullText>A trip to the southern Swiss canton of Valais and another to one of my favourite places, the Gorges du Doubs,
has given me the opportunity to make some new images taking advantage of some beautiful Autumn colour.

New website launched!

If you're reading this, you'll already know....

<fullText>After being a satisfied user of the Photium website template service, I felt the time had come to make
the effort to understand web-design and programming. So, armed with a choice collection of books, I rolled
up my sleeves and got stuck in - and this is the result! I hope you like it.

As I was redeveloping my site, I also took the opportunity to prune my portfolio a little and to revisit
the processing of many of my past images - sometimes changing them radically, sometimes just a little. So
why not take a stroll through my new galleries and see what's changed?

A productive Autumn...

<fullText>This Autumn I have had the opportunity not only to revisit some of my favourite parts of Switzerland and
France but also to do two trips with the foremost photographic tour organiser, Light & Land.

In November, I spent an enjoyable week with a number of other large format enthusiasts under the expert
guidance of Light & Land leaders, Joe Cornish and David Ward. We were based at the comfortable Bridge
Hotel in Buttermere, Cumbria where the food was every bit as good as the well-appointed accommodation. I
followed this almost immediately by another week spent exploring the wilds of Argyll, again with David
Ward but this time the trip was co-led by Richard Childs. Richard lives near Oban and knows the area
intimately, having made many wonderful large-format photographs there. Needless to say, I now have a
deeper understanding of this little-visited part of Scotland. Between the two organised holidays I spent
a weekend exploring Arran - an island new to me but to which I will certainly return.

Some images from my travels are already in my 'New Work' gallery and others will be added in due course.

<fullText>The Gorges du Doubs is an area that is enormously rich in photographic potential. Consequently I have been
visiting the place regularly for several years and now the time has come to pull my images of the gorge

<fullText>The 'Natural World' gallery was the largest gallery by far and, with 53 images, was starting to become hard to manage.
